Australian Final winners Kevin Wyld, Glen Penrose, Richard Gibson and Marcus Gibson represented Beacon Investment and Australia in the World Final of the World Corporate Golf Challenge held at La Manga Club in Spain at the end of June 2009, competing against 16 other countries. They finished a very gallant second behind the winners Portugal.

The event was held over 2 days with the best 3 stableford scores on each hole recorded towards the total team score. Portugal won with 232 points, with Australia second on 222 points and Malaysia third on 218 points. The event was held in very hot and dry conditions (36c) in front of a very strong media presence. Players were introduced on the first tee each day and before teeing off were interviewed and videoed by the media.

Marcus Gibson, with the equal lowest handicap in the Final, was the centre of media attention and we look forward to seeing the video of him and the other players in action. The World Final next year will be held at Ernie Els’ Oubaai and Gary Player’s Fancourt golf courses on the Garden Route in Eden South Africa and promises to be the best ever, although this one will be hard to beat.  Congratulation boys WELL DONE!!!
