FOUR NZ GOLFERS WILL BE FAST-TRACKED TO THE WCGC WORLD FINAL IN SOUTH AFRICA!

Despite the efforts of the organisers, media partners and associated partners since launching the New Zealand Series in September 2009, the original Series format comprising five Regional Finals across New Zealand received a poor response from companies and golfers.

This lack of response has led to the modification of the New Zealand Series to a single event, guaranteeing New Zealand a chance to compete at the World Final in South Africa.

Muriwai Golf Club, just outside Auckland, will host the sole event of the Series on Thursday 11th March. Teams comprise two players in a 2ball aggregate stableford event. Golfers of all abilities, male and female, with an official handicap are encouraged to register their teams.

The Winners and runners-up at this event are fast-tracked straight into the WCGC World Final in South Africa (all expenses paid) representing their Company and Country.

Barry Bradford of Golf Events, Australasian Licensee for the Series, was disappointed at the response from New Zealand golfers, stating, “Early indicators pointed to a successful five-round Series right across the country, with fantastic benefits on offer to golfers of all abilities.

It is no secret that the global financial crisis has affected millions worldwide. However, over the past 12 months confidence and optimism have grown and we were perfectly positioned to offer businesses a positive, engaging opportunity to re-establish their corporate networks through golf, at a reasonable price with fantastic benefits on offer.

However, it appears that the corporate golf market is still re-building and was not ready for the scale of the NBR World Corporate Golf Challenge Series proposed in New Zealand. The 2009/2010 World Corporate Golf Challenge series is hotting up with countries across the globe busily hosting their territory qualifying events, in preparation for the WCGC World Final in South Africa, May 2010.

One of the newest countries to take on the Challenge is Hong Kong, who will host a one-off championship event on 5th March.  Across the country in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, events are taking place on 24th and 31st March respectively.   In Nigeria, a qualifying event is also proposed for March 2010 at the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort.

Winners of the 2008 WCGC World Final, India, have completed the first round of their four-event qualifying series, before their national final takes place 20-21 March 2010.   India finished in equal 8th place in 2009 at the World Final at La Manga Resort, Spain and should not be underestimated this year.

BRW World Corporate Golf Challenge Australian Series

Australia is leading the way by hosting a comprehensive national series of qualifying events beginning at local golf clubs, followed by State Finals.  The winning teams from the state finals then progress to the all-expenses paid Australasian Final at Twin Waters on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.  So many opportunities to compete and experience the excitement of a corporate golf tournament.

There are four more local Club Qualifying Events scheduled in February 2010. 
Contact the Clubs directly if you would like to compete in one of their local club events.  For the first 25 registered teams competing on the day, two teams qualify through to their State Final.  For every 25 teams thereafter, one more team qualifies through to the State Final.
